The iconic pyramid shaped packs have featured the peak but this will be removed as the chocolate is now manufactured in Slovakia and not in Switzerland.
The move complies with ‘Swissness’ rules, which prevents national symbols being used to promote milk-based products that are not exclusively made in Switzerland. Mondelez-owned Toblerone will now feature a generic summit.
The original summit was first used on the brand’s packaging in the 1970s. Production of the chocolate bar began in 1908 in Bern. In a statement that the production move was to “respond to increased demand worldwide”.
